"Öko-Test": "First Class"
The "Öko Test" magazine compared 46 beers including known brands distributed throughout Germany and regional brands. The Warsteiner Brewery's Premium-Pils was rated "First Class" by the Öko-Test jurors as the best beer distributed throughout Germany from a family-run brewery (August 2009).
This outstanding result impressively underscores Warsteiner's traditional quality attributes.

The Warsteiner Brewery is family-owned and has its headquarters in the Sauerland region in the German state of Westphalia. Today, the company is managed by the 9th generation of the Cramer family, Catharina Cramer. Its history of unparalleled rise from a mere regional beer to an international premium brand is rooted in the concepts of tradition and innovation—values which still today define the company as well as the brand.
With continuous investments in logistics and technology, the Warsteiner Brewery has succeeded in reducing its consumption of energy, water and resources year after year and lowered its CO2 emissions long-term. A private railway siding with container terminal, a block heating power plant with an output of 2.3 Megawatts and the Warsteiner Brew Academy for Research and Development are testaments to the multiple efforts to increase efficiency while reducing the environmental footprint of the company.
WATCH FOR WARSTEINER
This bold, fruit-styled brew has light carbonation, multi-citrus notes and a fresh, crisp finish.
At Small Town Brewery, we are dedicated to crafting gruit-inspired beers. Gruit–German for herbs–describes the ancient practice of bittering ales with roots, spices, flowers, and berries. Tim Kovac, founder and brewmaster of Small Town Brewery, uses a proprietary technique to infuse a specialty blend of herbs and spices into his brewing process to create gruit-inspired beers with the unmistakable taste of nostalgia featuring classic American flavors.
My great-great-grandfather from the 1600s was the captain of a ship in England. He was also a bit of a gambler. As legend has it, he won a brewery during a high-stakes card game, which led him to start crafting his own beers. He began brewing beer on the ships he sailed. This allowed him to travel further than other vessels because beer stayed fresh during long journeys. The story goes that his beer was even consumed on a fleet of ships he commanded that transported some of the earliest settlers to America.
Growing up, I had never heard the complete story about my great-great-grandfather until I expressed an interest in making my own beer. When I told my mom that I planned to open a brewery, she finally revealed my family's beer making history and why brewing was "in my blood." Using some of my great-great-grandfather's recipes as inspiration, I founded Small Town Brewery. At Small Town, our goal is to honor my family's beer making tradition by creating specialty beers with unique and flavorful ingredients.
